Ila - Elmer J McCannon, 96, passed away June 4, 2001 at his home.
He was the son of the late Elmer and Addie Sailers McCannon and widower of Maydell Roberts McCannon. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ann McCannon Thornley and Florene McCannon Osborne Brooks and brother, John Ralph McCannon. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Mr. McCannon served as Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. He also worked at General Time in Athens and was a member of Ila Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Monday, June 6, 2011 from 11:00 until 12:00 PM, followed by graveside services at Ila Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make contributions to the Ila Cemetery Fund.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville is in charge of arrangements.
