Athens - Elmer Franklin Butler, 71, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Watkinsville, GA, he was the son of the late Will Henry and Evie Burt Butler. Elmer was the founding Pastor of Victory Baptist Church where he served for 31 ½ years.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Hilda Carson Butler, beloved pet, Tippy, sons and daughters in law, Jason and Sara Butler of Comer, Josh and Katrina Butler of Lawrenceville, grandchildren, Jordan Butler, Brian Butler, adopted grandson, Avery Weaver, siblings, Jimmy Toole of Danielsville, Lizzy Baxter of Hull, Lilly Sorrow of Athens, Brenda Patton of Athens, Linda McCollum of Athens, Mary Lou Chambers of Winder, Jack Toole of Hull, Sussie Mooney of Nicholson, Henry Toole of Winder, William Toole of Winder, Junior Toole of Winder.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 2PM at Victory Baptist Church with Revs. Jason Butler and Rick Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehall Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Bradshaw, Steve Shubert, Buck Williams, Mike Deaton, Andy Hassel and James Weaver. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 at Lord & Stephens East, tonight, December 14, 2010.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church Building Fund.
