Elizabeth Francis (Massa) Wrzesniewski

March 1, 1947 — January 30, 2018

Elizabeth Francis Wrzesniewski, 70, wife of John Wrzesniewski, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Born in Mt. Carmel, PA and a native of Pennsylvania, until retiring to Watkinsville, GA in 2015. She was the daughter of the late Charles Massa and Anna Olshefski Massa and sister to the late Mary (John) Triboletti and Charles (Nancy) Massa, Jr. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters: Kimberley Wrzesniewski of Audubon, PA, Jennifer (Casey) Adams of Bishop, GA; brothers: Mark (Linda) Massa and Vincent (Kathy) Massa both of Pennsylvania and four grandchildren: Grace Huntowski, John Wrzesniewski, Elizabeth Anna "Ellie" Adams and Ava Adams.
Elizabeth was proud to be a part of two of her four grandchildren's birth. She always feted all her grandchildren (and children) with their own special Birthday dinner. She taught them all the love of celebration, tradition, and family game times, especially long Skip-Bo battles. They each treasured their "Momma" time, whether it was an exciting outing or just watching the Food Channel shows with Momma, while enjoying her endless supply of candy treats.
Elizabeth was honored upon her retirement after over 33 years of service with Macy's. She was humbled by the outpouring of respect and love she received from her co-workers and many Executives that she had the pleasure of working alongside over her long career. She enjoyed her Macy's family as they helped to make the long hours of work, somehow fun. Elizabeth was always quick with a good line or a smile when anyone was working with her or someone stopped by to chat.
Elizabeth loved going to New York City. She saw many shows and enjoyed the excitement of the city. She had the opportunity to walk the path of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade twice as a Balloon Handler. She very much enjoyed being a part of this honored tradition.
Elizabeth was a warrior. She fought breast cancer twice and fought her liver disease tirelessly for the last 15 years.
She was a member of the University of Georgia (UGA) Catholic Center in Athens, GA and before her move to Georgia, she was a long-standing member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Trooper, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth's family asks that you each take time to discuss with your family and friends your desire to be an organ donor. Though the opportunity to thrive, never came for her, we hope that her legacy helps others in need. Memorials in her honor may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 4:30PM at the UGA Catholic Center Chapel. The family will receive friends following in the UGA Catholic Center. A celebration of Elizabeth's Life will also be held in Pennsylvania this spring at a date to be announced.
Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
