Elizabeth Sanderson "Sandie" Nicholson

Elizabeth Sanderson "Sandie" Nicholson, 68, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015. A native of Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Waller S. Nicholson, Jr. and Elizabeth Sanderson Nicholson. Sandie retired from the Morgan County Primary School as a teacher and was a member of Unity Athens. She volunteered as a tutor at the Athens Tutoring Center and the Poetry Writing Group with the Athens Council on Aging. Survivors include her children: Jennifer (Tom) Sangster, Joseph (Kelley) Benkoski, Mary (Sam) Malcome and Constance (Jack) Tucker; grandchildren: Meghan Sangster, Brantley Benkoski, Alex Malcome, Catherine Malcome, Joey Malcome, Tyler Tucker and Colton Tucker; siblings: Nickey (Hazel) Nicholson, Priscilla (Mike) Bishop, Ronnie Nicholson, Sally Nicholson and Kenny Nicholson and step mother Sarah Nicholson. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the funeral home.
