Elizabeth Ann Hornbuckle

March 10, 1948 — September 30, 2023

Hoschton

Elizabeth (Betsy) Hornbuckle, age 75, passed away at her residence in Hoschton, GA on September 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones holding her hands, just as she wanted. She is now re-united with her husband Bob, sister Alyce Deyo, and brother James Healy.

Betsy was a loyal and proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Abington PA, the daughter of the late Bernard Vincent and Virginia June Healy. Betsy was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years Robert (Bob) Hornbuckle. She is survived by her 4 sons: Robert W. Hornbuckle, Jr and his wife Colleen of Hoschton GA, their son Cole of Hoschton GA and their daughter Alexis and husband Cody of Jefferson GA, along with their children Presley Marie, Amelia, and Maverick.  Bryan Hornbuckle of Orlando FL and son Evan. Bradley Hornbuckle and his wife Lisa and children Timothy, Nicholas and Julie of Blandon, PA. Blaine Hornbuckle and his wife Helen and their children Colin and Hannah of Pickering, Ohio. She also leaves behind her surviving brothers Bernard Healy and wife Elsie of Ottsville, PA. and Ed Healy and wife Diane of Atglen, PA. She also shared a special bond with her surviving Goddaughter Debi Rossi of Medway, MA. She loved her large family of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Betsy was a devoted wife and mother, raising her four boys in Chalfont, PA. She was a “giver” that spent an enormous amount of time volunteering wherever needed. This included school functions, sports, and as a hospice representative. Betsy was very dedicated to her faith and loved her church family at New Life Christian Church in Wildwood, FL. She was also an early “investor” in The Chosen, an American Historical Drama based on the life of Jesus. She spent many hours watching with her Chiweenie Charlie and best friends Susan and Chip.

Betsy moved from Chalfont, PA to retire with her husband in Florida in 2004. She and Bob found their paradise when moving to The Villages in 2006. In 2020, Betsy moved to Hoschton, GA to be closer to her beloved great-grandchildren. She enjoyed their energy, laughter, and loving affection as their “Great”. They enjoyed her warm hugs and M&M machine.

Betsy was known by all to be an incredible and caring listener who always made time and had the best advice. Her “couch talks” and, always full, candy bowl were sought out by many, not just friends and family, but caretakers as well.

“Mom was more than the matriarch of the family; she was a true friend.”

A ceremony will be held at New Life Christian Church at 4707 E CR 462, Wildwood FL 34785 on Friday November 3rd at 10:30am followed by a small lunch gathering.

Betsy will be laid to rest, in private, with husband and former Vietnam Marine Bob at Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
