Ellijay - Elizabeth Settle Churchill, 77, formerly of Crawford, Ga., died January 1, 2009.
A native of Indianapolis, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte Havens Settle and was the widow of William Bruce Churchill Sr. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Marie Churchill and sister, Mary Green.
As a young woman, she loved to rollerskate around her hometown of Indianapolis, Ind. She loved bowling, playing the piano and singing hymns. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved to crochet and knit for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the angelic life-force of Christianity through the teachings of her faith.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include eight children, William B. Churchill Jr. of Carmel, Ind., Deborah Ann Brennan of Pinellas Park, Fla., Gary F. Churchill of Stroud, Okla., Linda J. Poe of Buchanan, Ga., Candace L. Marsh of Villa Rica, Ga., Gregory A. Churchill of Columbus, Ohio, David N. Churchill of Crawford, Ga. and Pamela M. Westbrook of Ellijay, Ga.; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Kermit Land of Indianapolis, Ind.; 32 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
