Comer, GA - Elise Black Hughes, 93, died September 14, 2005.
A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Essie Ruth Sailors and Matthew Jewett Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Hughes, Sr., and five children, J. B. Hughes, Sallie Mae Hughes Whitehead, Evie Lee Hughes Shaw, Annie Sue Hughes Steele and an infant son.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Rev. Douglas Hammond will officiate. Interment will be in Old Fork Cemetery, Carlton.
Survivors include a son, James Hughes of Danielsville; daughter, Kathleen Hughes Preston of Comer; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Terry Hughes, Steve Russell, Mike Whitehead, Chris Clark, Tony Steele, and Jeff Jordan.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
