Eli Ingram, Jr., 87, of Athens died Wednesday, June 6, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Harriett Hofmann; brother: Donnie Ingram; sons: Eric Ingram (Rosinda), Jeff Ingram (Stephanie); daughter: Linda Allen (Carroll); step sons: Mark Swenson (Diana), Ron Swenson (Cathy); six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Nelda Kinney Ingram; daughter; Tere Howard (George) and grandson Jay Ingram (Corinne). Eli was a 1947 graduate of Athens High School as well as Gordon Military College. He retired from Athens Lumber Company after thirty years and had also worked at Aldridge Inc and Ingram Construction with his brother. He co-founded the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited in 1972, was a Silver Patron of the organization. He was described as a soft spoken, humble southern gentleman. He attended Tuckston United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11am at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. James Mooneyhan officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 at the funeral home, Friday, June 8, 2018. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited Athens Chapter. Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
