Elaine Bailey Tucker

Elaine Bailey Tucker, age 86, of Athens, GA passed away May 28, 2024, Ms. Tucker was born on January 26, 1938 in Macon, Georgia, the second daughter of the late Fliming Walter Bailey and Mary Pattishall Bailey. She grew up in Macon, GA and attended Miller High School for girls. She moved to Eatonton, GA in 1970. She worked as a clerk for several businesses before finding a position that perfectly suited her personality and passion to meet and talk with other people. In 1993, she began work for the Putnam County Tax Commissioner as a tax clerk. In this capacity, she worked joyfully for 13 years. Her wit and sense of humor played well in her position, and she thoroughly enjoyed helping the people of Putnam County until her retirement in 2006. She lived independently in various locations in and around Putnam County and Milledgeville. In December 2022 she moved into an assisted living community in Athens to be closer to family. 

Ms. Tucker is survived by her sisters, Patsy Hartley and Faye Garfield, both of Macon, daughter, Lisa Charles (Chris) of Comer, GA, sons Kevin Tucker of Athens, and Kenneth Tucker (Laurel) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Katherine Kugler (Eric), Kevin Charles (Kirsten}, Anna Grace Koehler, Aden Tucker, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the future with the date, time, and place to be determined.
