Edwin Anthony Wray, 67, died at Athens Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 28, after a long illness. He was born in 1945 in Washington, DC, son of Esther and Stanley Tanner Wray. He served two tours in Vietnam in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1971 he received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and in 1977 a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from the same institution,where he was a member of Sigma Chi and of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. He worked as an industrial engineer in the banking and railroad industries, and later taught business management at universities in Florida, Iowa, Connecticut, and Georgia. In 2004, he received a Ph.D. in operations management from the University of Georgia. Dr. Wray was a member of St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church in Athens, Georgia.
a��He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Tanner Wray, Jr. He is survived by two brothers, Rick (and Sue) and Mack (and Hillary). He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Tina (and Walter) van Roggen, Stanley Tanner Wray, III (and Karl Debus-López), Jessica Wray, and Valerie (and Dan) Sandberg.
a��A memorial service will be held at St. Gregory the Great, 3195 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, at 1:30 PM on September 22. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, orhttp://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
