Edwin "Guy" Hardman, 88, died Friday, May 22, 2015. Born in the Sandy Cross Community of Oglethorpe County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Julius Albert Hardman and Agnes Harris Hardman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Martha Nell Stevens Hardman, and brothers, Julius A. Hardman, Jr. and Joseph C. Hardman.
Guy served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from Westinghouse after 29 years of employment. He also enjoyed working the farm that he and his wife owned for 57 years. He was a longtime member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church where he served in leadership positions, including a deacon. He was active in the American Legion at the local, district, and state levels and in the local Masonic Lodge for many years.
Survivors include his children Keith (Colleen) Hardman of Powder Springs, Susan (Lanny) Robinson of Winterville, and Joyce (Danny) Sniff of Arnoldsville; grandchildren Brittany (Brian) Ponder, Seth (Morgan) Robinson, Josh (Corie) Robinson, Ashley Escoe, Erin (TJ) Bunch, Rylee Sniff, and Sydney Sniff; great-grandchildren Kris Hoelzen, Lucas Ponder, Caitlyn Hardman, Carson Robinson, and Will and Joe Bunch; brother Ray (Roberta) Hardman of Birmingham, Alabama; sister Julia Mae Hardman Colquitt of Winder; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 25 at 11:00 at Sandy Cross Cemetery with Rev. Clayton Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Monday, May 26 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Sandy Cross Cemetery Fund.
Honorary pall bearers will be members of the American Legion Post 123 and the Masonic Lodge Post 152.
The family will be at the residence of Lanny and Susan Robinson.
