Edward Glenn Williams, beloved father of Julie Coleman and Joan Williams, of Watkinsville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Ward Williams.
Glenn was born in Florala, Alabama on November 27, 1931. At the young age of 18 he married his sweetheart Dorothy who he was married to for 47 years. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War where he was shot and wounded.
Glenn was a member of Britt David Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia where he served as a deacon for many years.
In 1995 Glenn retired from Georgia Power with over 35 years of service. He continued to work as a consultant in the heating and air business until he was 75. He was very talented man who could make anything with his hands and always wanted to learn how to do new things.
To say Glenn had a sense of humor is an understatement. He was quite the prankster and loved jokes and acting young at heart. His family and friends loved this most about him and will miss him dearly.
Glenn was very wise and loyal to his friends and family and always had the right advice to offer. He was an honest man who you could always count on for anything. He left his family with warm, wonderful memories that they cherish forever.
Survivors include his daughters Julie Coleman and Joan Williams, son-in-law Barry Coleman, grandson Matthew Coleman, granddaughter Lindsay Coleman, 2 sisters Stella Walden and Christine Martin of Columbus, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 27 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia on Sunday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oconee Memorial Park in Watkinsville, Ga.
