Edward E. McConnell

Edward Egon McConnell, 82, of Watkinsville, GA, passed away on April 17, 2025.

Born on August 6th in Cologne, Germany, Ed was the eldest son of his mother Maria. He grew up in New York City until he was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ed was stationed in Thailand where he met Pattie, his wife of 55 years.

He served a full career in the U.S. Army with much of his service in special operations. After military retirement in 1989, he moved to Watkinsville, GA, to build their family dream home. Among his many activities, Ed attended Lee University for the ministry program, served with the Clark County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy, was active in local prison and hospital ministries, and helped his wife with her business.

Ed is survived by his wife, Pattie, his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.

Memorial Services will be held at Lord and Stephens EAST Chapel at 11:00 A.M. on April 21, 2025 with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity.
