Athens, GA - Edward Anthony Lord, 85, died September 8, 2009.
Born in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Arthur Jackson Lord and Effie Florine Brooks Lord. Mr. Lord was retired as owner of Lord Insurance Agency in Crawford. He was a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge and Arnoldsville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Mr. Alex Mason officiating. Interment will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Willie Ruth Lord; daughter, Toni Ramsey and her husband, Larry of Clarkesville; son, Mike Lord and his fiancé, Leigh Craig of Lexington; sisters, Clara Lord Dudley of Athens and Jennie Lucille Argo of Arnoldsville; grandchildren, Terri Mason and her husband, Alex of Lexington and Olivia Lord of Wilmington, NC; great grandchildren, Brantley, Anna and Brogan Mason.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Odyssey Healthcare, 855 Gaines School Rd., Suite G, Athens, GA 30605.
