Athens - Edward Hoyt (Tank) Barnett, 54, died November 28, 2005.
He was employed by Veratec for 23 years, and most recently by Athens Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Arnoldsville Baptist Church and the Lexington Masonic Lodge #158.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie R. Barnett, Sr. and Virginia Caruthers Barnett, and a sister, Leslie Grace Bingham. Survivors include his wife Carol H. Barnett of Athens; two children, Julie Barnett of Winterville and Justin Barnett of Athens; two step-children, Bryan Echols of Kannapolis, NC and Tiffany Carr of Lexington, KY; a brother, Charlie R. Barnett, Jr.; three sisters, Linda Sheridan, Laura Fournier, and Melissa Barnett; seven grandchildren: Emily, Lindsay, Hannah, Chandler, Gabrielle, Caroline, and Charles.
Pallbearers will be Billy Rogers, Warren Mason, Bobby Erwin, Edd Lowe, Tim Hansford, and Chuck McCannon. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lexington Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Revs. Nathan Palmer and David Burt will officiate. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Family is in residence at 105 Honey Tree Drive, Athens.
