Edna Stewart – July 20, 1935, to January 23, 2024
It is with grace and gratitude that the children of Edna Stewart announce the passing of their mother on January 23, 2024. Edna was born in Oglethorpe County. She was the daughter of the late John Ralph and Katie Mae Carter Stewart.
Ms. Stewart had six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her older sister Rose Carolyn Gillespie. Preceded in death are siblings Edward Stewart, Talmadge Stewart, Coile Stewart, Peggy Stewart and Joan Gillespie, and grandson Jonathan Mann
She is survived by her sons Phil Massey (Desiree) of Newnan, GA, and Gary Mann (Danielle) of Arnoldsville, GA, and daughters Pam Aaron (Lamar) of Arnoldsville, GA, and Rita Mann of Sarasota, FL. Granddaughters Patti Turner (Jason) of Winterville, GA, Andrea Manley (Daniel) of Newnan, GA, Katie Paul (Keith) of Winterville, GA, Robin Patton (Bill) of Lexington, GA, Audrey Guest of Crawford, GA, Cindy Aaron of Madison, GA, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Crawford Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class until declining health prevented her from attending.
Ms. Stewart was a resident of Quiet Oaks Nursing Home in her later years, to whom the family is eternally grateful for the love and care of their mother. Ms. Stewart had a kind heart, a spry sense of humor and above all she loved both family and friends.
A memorial will be held at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia 30605, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, beginning with a 10 a.m. visitation followed by service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Quiet Oaks Health Care at 125 Quiet Oaks Drive (or P.O. Box 613), Crawford, GA 30630, and Crawford Baptist Church, 124 Church Street, Crawford, GA 30630.
