Edith Ann Raines Whorton, 61, died on Friday, June 16, 2017. E.A. was born on May 30, 1956 in Thomaston, Georgia. She was passionate about women's rights and social justice, and she was always willing to help anyone in need.
E.A. is survived by her daughter, Morgan Whorton; her husband, Joseph Whorton; her sister, Caroline Raines; and her step-daughters, Kasha Hayes and Stefanie Costello and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Jean Raines.
Services will be held at The Catholic Center, 1344 S. Lumpkin Street, Athens, Georgia at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017. Contributions in memory of E.A. should be made to the Athens Area Humane Society.
