E. Imogene (Jean) Collins, 92, died July 5, 2016.
Born in Hopkins County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Otis Francis and Myrtie Lou Whitfield Lantrip.
Mrs. Collins lived in Mishawaka and Elkhart, IN for 50 years before moving to Watkinsville in 1998. Until recent years, she was active in the Oconee County Senior Center , enjoyed traveling, and flower gardening. Mrs. Collins loved people and greeted everyone with a smile. At Iris Place, where she resided for the last few years, she was honored to serve as the chairperson of the Ambassadors, where she delighted in making new residents welcome. Mrs. Collins loved the Lord and shared her faith by organizing and heading up many Bible study classes. She attended St. James Methodist Church. Mrs. Collins was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Preceding her in death was her husband of 45 years, William P. Collins, Sr. and son, William P. Collins, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl (Jim) Carpenter of Mishawaka, IN, Del Key of Bethlehem, GA, Judy (Benny) Payne of Athens, GA Dean (Laurel) Key of Mishawaka, IN, Debra (Ron) McCann of Crestview, FL and Beverly (Fred) Harman of Dade City, FL; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, 4 sisters, 1 brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:30 am at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, (Hwy. 53) Watkinsville, GA 30677 with Rev. Bill Currington officiating.
