Dwight Paul Bennett, 70, husband of the late Kay Bennett, died Monday, October 25, 2021. A lifelong resident of Athens, Mr. Bennett was the son of the late Paul Arnold Bennett and Annie Ruth McGhee Bennett. Dwight retired as a loan officer from Washington Mutual Finance after 35 years and found joy in working at Hawthorne Drugs until his last days. Dwight graduated from Truett McConnell College where he met the love of his life and they shared a love story for the ages. Dwight was an avid music lover and he spread his love of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through singing and also directing many choirs over his lifetime. He is best known for his humor, kindness to all, singing Happy Birthday to any and everyone and his love of cooking, which included his famous key lime pies, fudge and coconut cake. Survivors include his two children: Micah (Terrell) Bennett and Cassi (Chase Brown) Bennett; sister: Naomi Bennett Alvis; grandchildren: Michaela Jordan, Noah Bennett, Kyler Bennett, Korbyn Bennett and Bella, Sophia, Vivi and Cesca Cimillo and one great grandchild: Jace Jordan. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 at 1PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. Interment will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to: Union Grove Campground, P.O.
