Athens, GA - Lee Dwayne Dean, 82, died October 19, 2007.
A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Grover Lee Dean and Susie Mae Dean Long. He was the widower of Mildred Louise Dean and was preceded in death by a brother, Horace O. Long and stepfather, Willie W. Long. He was a member and deacon of Forest Heights Baptist Church and also attended the Moser Sunday School Class and the Senior Saints.
Dwayne served with the Gideon's International for many years and was retired from Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company after 35 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved his family, his church and most of all his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was known for his big garden. He loved picking and selling the vegetables he grew.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 22, 2007, at 2:00PM at Forest Heights Baptist Church with Revs. Mike Purdy, Bill Long and Dayton Logan officiating. Entombment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janice D. and Thomas B. Marable of Athens; two sisters, Emma Mabry of Pine Mountain, GA and Clara Strickland of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren, Brian Lee Marable, and wife Shannon of Winder, and Kevin Thomas Marable, and wife Amanda of Athens; four great grandchildren, Deanna Nicole Pruitt, Joanna Kristine Pruitt, Anna Grace Marable and Sara Kate Marable; aunt, Idele Short of Kannapolis, NC; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Richard Horne, Jimmy Baugus, Fred Hunt, Billy Pass, Hugh Ingram, and Tim Bare. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Moser Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon's International or Forest Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
