Dr. William Carmanni Callaway of Watkinsville, tragically passed away as the result of an automobile accident on June 27, 2023. He was 33 years old.
The son of Lamar & Karen Callaway, William was born in Greensboro, GA & moved with his family to Oconee County in his teens. William is survived by his brother Fielding Callaway (Alden), sisters: Elizabeth Sandbach (Bryan), & Grace Callaway, & nephews Beau & Lake Callaway.
His passion for sports was borne out on the football field of Athens Academy where he earned the distinction of NE GA Athlete of the Year, as well as All State honors.
He graduated Cum Laude from UGA with a BS in Biology & was a member of SAE fraternity. He completed dental school at the Medical College of GA in Augusta & joined Athens Dental Associates in 2022.
He enjoyed golf, snow skiing, water skiing, travel, and spending time with family & friends. William was beloved by all, a most compassionate, caring, hard-working, fun-loving guy. He lived his faith in God every day through his love for his work and his patients.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, at 3 pm at Lord & Stephens West Chapel, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd., Watkinsville, GA 30677 with visitation preceding the service from 2 pm to 3 pm. Interment at Oconee Memorial Park, 2370 Hog Mountain Rd., Watkinsville, GA will follow.
