Dr. Charles Goodrich Gammill

Dr. Charles Goodrich Gammill died peacefully September 24, 2018.

Born on July 12, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama, he was the son of Charles Lewis Gammill and Virginia “Kitty” Campbell Gammill.

At the age of two months, Charles was matriculated by his parents to the School of Pharmacy at Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham, Alabama, and was pledged at the same time to the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.

After graduating from the Pharmacy School at Howard in 1959, he worked in retail pharmacy for fourteen years before moving to Athens, Georgia to pursue graduate degrees. He joined the faculty at the UGA College of Pharmacy, first as a graduate assistant, and then in their office of Postgraduate Continuing Education and Outreach. At the time of his retirement in 2008, Charles was a Senior Public Service Associate and held the title of Director, Pharmaceutical and Industrial CE Programs.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Sue Bradberry Gammill; his children, Charles “Chuck” Gammill (Sue), Candace G. Jones (Jimmy), Stephanie E. Covington (Jessie), R. Jeffrey “Jeff” Elliott (Melissa); grandchildren, Megan Gammill, Andrew Elliott, Rebecca Covington, Sarah Covington; brother, George Gammill (Cyndi).

Visitation will be held at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Watkinsville, GA on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 1-2pm followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2pm.  The Rev. Gary Lawrence, Minister, Princeton United Methodist Church will be officiating.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Pruett Heritage Rehab and extend a special thanks to DeShawn Williams for taking such good and loving care of Charles for the past few years.
