Dr. Billy Bedford Epps Jr

Dr. Billy Bedford Epps, Jr., son of Nelle Price Epps and Billy B. Epps, died January 11, 2012. His grandparents were Roy Bedford and Pauline Thompson Epps and Lee Olin and Nellie Gardner Price. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother and brother, Dr. David R. Epps; niece, Jennifer Epps; nephew, Richard Epps; cousin, Cynthia Kinney ( James) and their sons Mike (Dawn) and Chad (Jean) Kinney.
Born in Athens on September 28, 1945, he was an Eagle Scout and a 1963 graduate of Athens High School. After attending the University of Georgia and Louisiana State University, he received a PhD in mathematics from the University of Houston. He was on the faculty of Carlton University, Ottawa, Canada, and the University of Houston. After leaving academia he developed new math and organized a computer company serving NASA and others. He loved nature and had an inquisitive mind.
The body will be cremated with a private burial at Oconee Hill Cemetery. Lord and Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
