Douglas Leonard Main, 78, of Watkinsville, passed into eternal rest October 23, 2021.
Born in Natick, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Leonard Barnes Main and Audrey Grala Main. Mr. Main was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam and was a member of the Thomaston VFW. He has been an Oconee County resident since 1979. Mr. Main was an educator, having taught for 32 years in Greene and Newton Counties, retiring from the Newton County Board of Education. He enjoyed golf but his favorite hobby was being a Dad and Granddad.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Main; sons, Brian Douglas Main (Katherine) of Charleston, SC, Keith Leonard Main of Silver Spring, MD and Elliot Merille Main (Britni Ann) of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Douglas Main, Alexander Main, Preston Main, Ellasyn Main and Adley Main; brother, Kenneth Main of Walnut Creek, CA; sisters, Deborah Main-Reyff of Edmond, OK, Janice Palson and Karen Main of Phoenix, AZ and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 29, 2021 beginning at 1:00 PM at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 PM.
Interment will be at a later date at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, GA.
