Cumming

Douglas Gordon Boggs of Cumming, born on February 16, 1950, entered into Heaven on July 2, 2021. A native of East Point, he was the son of the late Thomas Gordon Boggs and Janelle LaVerne Badders Boggs.

After graduation, Doug served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he received several medals. Doug was a true patriot who loved his country. After his military service, he worked as a National Sales representative for CNN Railroad. After retirement, Doug returned to Georgia, and as a loving son he was his mother’s caregiver until she passed.

Doug was a loving brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy was being able to spend time with his family and always help when needed.

Along with his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herthel and Elizabeth Badders and Mary Thatcher Boggs; his brother-in-law Gerald Haywood; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He is survived by his sister Connie Boggs Haywood, nephew Alan (Lynn) Boyd, nieces Mandy (Shane) Love and Carla Daniell; great-nephews and nieces Morgan Porterfield, Bolton Porterfield, Hunter Daniell, Grace Daniell, Bailey Cooper, Nevaeh Cook, and Wesley Porterfield; several cousins; bonus family Johnny and Pam Mauldin, Wendell and Janice Myers, and JB and Susan Brooks; and angels on earth, the staff of Brookdale Hartwell.

Following cremation, Doug’s family and friends will hold a celebration of life and scatter his remains at a later date.
