Watkinsville - Douglas McArthur Berryman, 65, died September 28, 2008.
Born in Hart County, he was the son of the late L.W. and Fannie Aaron Berryman. He was also preceded in death by his wife Ruby Dean Berryman and four brothers: Elmer, Charlie, Luther and Fred Berryman. He retried from the US Army where he served his country for 20 years and also retired from Food and Machinery Sales Inc. of Athens. Mr. Berryman was a member of Antioch Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 3PM at the Chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Rev. Jeff Wilkes will officiate. Interment will be in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his sisters: Rosetta Bailey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Anne Beard of Starr, SC; children: Dawn Nalley and Dana Proffit both of Watkinsville; mother in law: Arlene Martin of Watkinsville; sister in law: Jeannie Mullin of Tustin, CA and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church or to the St. Mary's Hospice House.
