Douglas Dewitt Allen

Winder - Douglas Dewitt Allen, 59, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Commerce, GA, he was the son of the late Cleveland Dewitt Allen and Rosa Lee Allen Bridges. Mr. Allen was a Locksmith in the Maintenance Department at the University of Georgia and previous to his employment with the University he was a self employed Brick Mason. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; Delores "Dee" Allen of Winder; daughter and son in law: Amy Allen Lester and Scott Lester of Colbert; stepdaughters: Dana and Mike Nations of Watkinsville, Denise Townsley of Ponca City, OK; sister: Elaine Threlkeld of Hull; half sister: Dawn Allen of Winder; grandchildren: Gavin Lester, Grayson Lester, Justin Nations and Elizabeth Nations; two nieces, Ginger Bray and Tanisha Pate. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 6 until 8PM at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Children's Ministry. Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
