Dorsey Coleman Payne, 79 passed away on July 7, 2012 in Athens, GA.
Dorsey was born and raised in Athens, GA on March 16, 1933 to Carl Coleman Payne and Mamie Lavonia Edwards Payne. He graduated from Winterville High School. Dorsey served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Martha Jean Payne; children: Travis Coleman Payne (Laura) of Lawrenceville, Dorsey Kevin Payne (Cindy) of Winterville; Kecia Payne of Winterville; four grandchildren: Tabitha Christy Payne Bucci (Nick), Tyler Coleman Payne, Andrew Petraglia, Emily Petraglia and one great granddaughter: Farrah Ann Bucci.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 9, 2012 at 1PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. John Verchuren officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the North East Georgia Cancer Center.
