Dorothy Sanders Thrasher

Dot Thrasher, 93, of Athens, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012. Mrs. Thrasher was the daughter of the late Thomas Arthur Sanders and Hassie Ellington Aaron Sanders. Dot was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years Dennard Cleveland Thrasher and five sisters Mardell S. Couch, Lois N. Sanders, Marie S. Bramblett, Katherine Sanders, and Katie Ruth Sanders. Dorothy was a long time member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother, and caring friend. Survivors include her son Freddy Dennard Thrasher and wife Kathy of Arnoldsville, Georgia; grandchildren Katie Thrasher Franks and husband William Franks of Jefferson and Kristy Thrasher of Arnoldsville; sister Day Sanders Davis of Athens; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 27, at Oconee Hills Cemetery with Reverend Bill Ricketts officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday, November 26, at Lord and Stephens East. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 2131 Ruth Jackson Rd., Bogart, GA 30622 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2340 Prince Avenue, Suite B, Athens, GA 30606.
