Dorothy Morris

Dorothy Leigh Guirkins Morris, 90, of Duluth, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016.
Born in Bath, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Guirkins and Rosa Newberry Guirkins. She married James Daulton Morris on March 26, 1953 and they remained married until his death in 1987. Mrs. Morris enjoyed traveling, reading, quilting, crossword puzzles, word games and she loved painting. She was often sought after to make wedding cakes, doll cakes and many types of candy. Her children fondly remember her sewing clothes for them and she sewed many Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She will be remembered most for her sweet nature and wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her children, Gail Morris, Terrie Morris, Janice Coe and Jim Morris; grandchildren, Jennifer Coe, Daulton Coe, Heather Morris, Hannah Morris and Logan Morris; brother, Rudolph Guirkins and his wife Nora; sister, Kay Bray; sister in law, Ann Waggoner and her husband John; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will follow in the Colbert City Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm.
