Athens - Jeanie Allen, 61, passed away on August 4, 2010, after a valiant fight against cancer.
She was born March 15, 1949, in Athens, Georgia, the daughter of Jean McLean Gibson and the late Samuel H. McLean. She graduated from Athens High School in 1967 and attended West Georgia College and the University of Georgia. She married Frank R. Allen on July 4, 1973.
She is survived by her husband and her two children, Kelly and Scott, her mother, Jean Gibson, her brother, Fred McLean, her step sister, Saralyn Killian, and step brother, Howard Gibson. In addition to her dedication to her family and friends, she was an avid artist, specializing in portraits of children and pets.
The family will receive friends and family at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, on Friday, August 6, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 7, at 10 am at Evergreen Memorial Park, with Reverends Mark Harper and Beecher Mathes officiating the ceremony.

Everyone who knew her loved her deeply. She will be missed tremendously.
