Dorothy Chandler Bates

Dorothy Chandler Bates, 91, wife of the late Therron C. Bates, died August 15, 2013. Born May 4, 1922 in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas G. and Ida Myrtie Sanders Chandler. She was a member of Meadow Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Bates was a sitter for many children during her life and she truly loved children. Survivors include her daughter and son in law: Mary and Bobby Foster of Winterville; grandchildren: James Robert Foster of Winterville, Cynthia Foster (Chris) Paulson of Athens; great grandchildren: James Reid (Samantha) Foster and Lawson Jane Foster and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens Danielsville Chapel with Rev. Palmer Rehburg officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meadow Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 646, Comer, GA 30629. Lord & Stephens Danielsville is in charge of arrangements.
