Doris Strickland Wilcox

Watkinsville - Doris Strickland Wilcox was a native of Hapeville and the Atlanta area, and for the past 30 years was a resident of Lake Hartwell in Franklin County. Mrs. Wilcox is the widow of Robert D. Wilcox, a native of Winsted, Connecticut. Mrs. Wilcox was for many years an accountant for the State Department of Education, the Board of Regents and Georgia Tech. Since moving to Lake Hartwell, she was involved in many activities. She was especially devoted and active in the Lavonia Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Wilcox died late Friday, April 28, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center as a result of a fall of April 19th.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Robert Poole of Oconee County and her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Strickland of Oconee County; several nieces and nephews. All survivors are originally from the Atlanta area.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST, with The Rev. Dr. David Speering of the Lavonia Presbyterian Church officiating.
