Doris Mac Oglesby, age 94, died at home on Sunday, February 9, 2014 after a brief illness.
She was born in Hartwell, GA on April 14,1919 to the late Mac and Ina Adams Oglesby. She attended North Georgia College and then the University of Georgia where she earned a degree in home economics. She worked for both Georgia Power and General Electric companies before joining the staff at the University of Georgia, where she worked as a specialist with the Cooperative Extension Service until retirement. She was a proud and avid Bulldog football fan.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Athens where she served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for more than 2 decades.
Memorial services will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Athens with Dr. Paul A. Baxley officiating. Following the service the family will gather in the Branyon Foyer.
She is survived by a brother, Mac F. Oglesby of Hartwell, a sister, Ann Oglesby Bowers of Paragould, AR, 3 nieces, 8 nephews, and their many children. She is pre-deceased by her step-mother, Theo Fort Oglesby, her brother, Leslie E. Oglesby of Danielsville, sisters Ina "Tip" Daly of Atlanta and Alice Oglesby Rogers of Columbia, SC.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Athens, the Northview Cemetery in Hartwell, GA or to the charitable cause of your choice.
