Doris (Nabers) Maddox

Doris Maddox, 81, died October 20, 2011.
A native of Jefferson, GA, she was a daughter of the late Clifford T. and Viola Whitlock Nabers. She was a graduate of Athens Business School and retired from Georgia Power after thirty years. Mrs. Maddox was a member of the women of Georgia Power and the Athens Garden Club for many years. Mrs. Maddox was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00pm until service time.
Survivors include her husband, Duel Maddox; son, Jeffrey W. Maddox of Athens and his children, John T. "Bo" Maddox - 23 years old, and Mamie C. Maddox - 21 years old; daughter, Jan Maddox Kirby, and her husband Chip Kirby of Woodbridge, VA and their children, Taylor Kirby - 15 years old and Trey Kirby - 10 years old.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Tracy Fowler and the rest of the caring staff of Silverleaf Alzheimer's Care of Athens.
Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
