Doris Allen, 69, died June 8, 2010.
A native of Lakeland, FL, she was a daughter of the late Claude Danish Pope and Bertie Abigail Dean and in 2004 was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William "Billy" Thomas Allen. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Carrie Smith, two brothers, Claude "Pete" Pope and Jack Pope, and a sister, Chris Lorine Brewer.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include six children, Billy Ray (Bonnie Faye) Allen of Colbert, Diane (Frank) Tyner of Danielsville, Wanda (Charles) Williamson of Jefferson, Brenda (Pat) Palmer of Winterville, Cindy (Jimmy) Walker of Crawford and Gwen (Bob) Milligan of Cartersville; sisters, Gladys Morgan, Cora Bell Qualls of Green Cove Springs, FL and Helen Drew of Green Cove Springs, FL; two sisters-in-law, Winifred Pope and Shirley Dills; six grandsons, four granddaughters, seven step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Nelms, Dallas Gabriel, Jeremy Sudberry, Brandon Sudberry, Joshua Hall and Justin Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Hammond, Billy Quarles, Kenneth Hanley, Bruce Hild and Glenn Doster.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
