Donald P. “Donnie” Carson, 82, husband of 47 years to the late Nancy S. Carson, died on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Born in Farmington, GA, he was the son of the late Ben “Bulldog” Carson and Viola Carson and brother to the late Jeannie Ervin. He had worked at Anaconda, retired from Oconee County Sheriff’s Office as a Jailer and was the owner and operator of Carson Super Market with his wife. Donnie was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church where he served as a deacon. He graduated from Oconee County High School and played on the 1957 Warriors Baseball Team. He enjoyed camping, attending Bluegrass Singings and fishing. Anyone that traveled the Salem Road knew that he cut his grass every day and sometimes twice a day.
Survivors include his five daughters: Donna (Don Bradshaw) Carson, Deborah (Greg) Peck, Dana (Eddie) West, Darlene (Tim Holt) Rhines and Dawn Carson; grandchildren: Allen (Tamie) Peck, Clayton (Holli) Peck, Samantha (Alex) Shouse, Derek (Kortney) Edwards, Dylan Edwards, Daniel Edwards, Fallan Stewart, Brady Rhines and Maddie Rhines; eight great grandchildren: sisters: Cheryl Thomason and Lynn Carson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Pastor Ken Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Allen Peck, Clay Peck, Derek Edwards, Dylan Edwards, Daniel Edwards, Brady Rhines, Tim Holt, Luke Peck, Alex Shouse and Judson Shouse.
