Donald William Wood, 93, husband of the late Marguerite Hammond Wood, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at his residence.
A native of Athens, he was the son of the late Henry and Lucy Ogle Wood. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Shirley, brothers and one sister. He retired from the University of Georgia, Georgia Center as a food service manager, was member of Edwards Chapel Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law: Debbie (Ricky) Payne of Watkinsville and grandson, Jeremy Payne.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2PM at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors with Pastors Lee Hunter and Larry Davison officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday, December 20, 2013 at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Edwards Chapel Church.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
