Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of the late Donald Carr Smith, Sr. and Helen Maynard Smith. He served his country in the US Air Force and retired from the clothing manufacturing business in Framingham, MA and Athens GA.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Geraldine Gillis Smith; children: Sheri-Lee King of Athens, Kimberley Ann Smith of Colbert, Donald Carr Smith, III of Cumming; mother in law: Florence Gillis; grandchildren: Chelsie Nicole King, TJ King, Jessica Marie Bosselmann and John Smith.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
