Donald Mooney

Donald Mooney, 80, died May 25, 2016.
A native of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late W.D. and Inez Waldrup Mooney and was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Gillespie. He was retired, having worked for eighteen years as a Corrections Officer with Clarke County. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Geraldine Mooney; three children, Lisa Chancey, Shirley Reid and Lee Mooney; brother, Jimmy Mooney of Statham; sisters, Jerry Barton of Charleston, SC and Norma Jean Coverdale of California; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 4030 Danielsville Road, Athens, GA 30601.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
