Donald "Don" Desmond, 78, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011.
He was born in New Rochelle, NY on May 27, 1933 to Michael and Mary Desmond. He lived in Hialeah, Florida and he moved to Athens, Georgia in 1986.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a was a City of Miami Police Officer in Florida, and a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union).
His dedication to his family will always be remembered.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Marie, 3 daughters Linda Dorcas, Donna Dorcas (Bruce), Julie Haag (Robert), son Don Desmond (Denise); Grandchildren: Heather Garrett, Kelly McClellan, Katie Dorcas, David Dorcas, Anne Marie Dorcas, Tyler Zimmerman, Ashleigh Desmond, Katelyn Desmond, Michael Haag, Matthew Haag, Katherine Haag; Great Grandchildren: Henry Garrett, Wayne Garrett, Jace McClellan, and Baby McClellan; Sisters: Joan Eubanks, Catherine Pringle, Mary Burgin, Eileen Dunn; Brother: Michael Desmond; and a host of other extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am Friday, November 11, 2011 at the UGA Catholic Center of Athens.
Interment will be at Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, c/o St. Mary's Foundation, 1230 Baxter St. Athens, GA 30605.
