Donald E.Cowan, 82, of Eatonton, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the early morning of May 6, 2024. He was born April 6, 1942 in Wadley, GA to Robert and Mollie Cowan.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, he went to work for the UGA Ag Extension Service, where he completed his career as State 4-H Leader in 1994. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, traveling the world, cheering on his Dawgs, caddying for his oldest granddaughter, and being the biggest supporter for all his grandchildren/great grandchildren's activities. (He was an expert golf, pole vault, hockey, soccer, fishing and dance coach). After tailgating every Saturday morning in the fall, he could be found “Between the Hedges” and was lucky enough to attend countless bowl/playoff games and pulled his dawgs through for three national championships.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Mollie Cowan, his brother, Jim mie Cowan, his wife, Betty S. Cowan, and son Robert E. Cowan(Buddy).
His legacy lives on through his children: Teresa Cowan Lance (David Lance), Donna Cowan Nettis (Steven J. Nettis Jr.), and Kathy Lord Cowan; his grandchildren: Ashley Lance Gayden (Chip Gayden), Carlie Cowan Jaskowiak (Preston Jaskowiak), Ansley Lance Rowland (Zach), Shelby Rice Castleberry (Timothy), Taylor Nettis, Jackson Cowan, and Emily Cowan; great-grandchildren Caroline Gayden, Saylor Jaskowiak, Lucy Rowland, Jace Jaskowiak, Lilah Jaskowiak, Cooper Rowland, and Obadiah Castleberry; sibling: Jane Cowan Dekle.
