Dona ‘Monisa’ Worthy, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior September 2, 2024. Monisa is the daughter of the late Van K Worthy and Mattie Welch Worthy of Athens, Ga. And proceed in death by her brother Van K Worthy Jr. also of Athens.
Monisa was a lifelong resident of Athens attending Athens High (Clark Central) then starting her career at BellSouth, where she retired after 34 years. She then went on to work at Main Street bank (Downtown Athens) and then BB&T.
Monisa loved the Lord with all her heart and was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Church.
Monisa will be remembered for her endless hours of ministering to those in need and for being the ultimate prayer warrior for everyone she knew and even those she didn’t.
Funeral Services are Thursday September 5, 2024 1:00pm at Lord & Stephens, West Chapel. The viewing will be prior to the service from 11:00 am to 1:00pm. The interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
She was a loving mother to Chelsie (Kevin) Rudz of Athens and Wyndee (Will) Johnson of John’s Creek, Georgia. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Alex Smith, Dena Rudz, Asher and Blake Johnson and Michael and Drew Johnson along with many friends, she considered family .
Monisa was also a lifelong UGA fan and got to see her bulldogs win one last time Saturday. Go Dawgs!
