We sadly announce the passing last year of Diane Winter Iserhardt, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, age 89, who passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Monroe, GA. She was born Diane Marie Winter to Earle Sinclair Winter, Sr., and Edna "Teddy" Gabrielle Wallace on May 7,1935, in Buffalo, NY. Diane grew up in Kenmore, NY, a suburb of Buffalo.
She attended Stuart Hall School, Staunton, VA, the Park School of Buffalo, and is a graduate of Kenmore High School, where she was president of her sorority, Delta Beta Phi, and was a member of the Girl’s varsity synchronized swimming team. Diane was so excited to watch the synchronized swimming teams that competed in the 2024 Summer Olympic games, amazed at the skills they could perform.
Diane married Ray Mainwold in 1954 with whom she had two children, Michael and Mindee, spending their early years in Toledo, OH. In 1970, Diane married John L. Iserhardt, and they made their home, together with Mindee, in Houston, TX, until his passing in 1972. Diane married William R. Kitchin in 1981, in Atlanta, GA, and lived there until his passing in 2002.
She was a loving and supportive mother and a devoted grandmother. It is impossible to describe such a special person in a few words, especially someone who was so accomplished and giving. Diane was always making new friends wherever she went or when she moved to a new town, but never forgot to keep in touch with her life-long friends.
Diane had a varied career which began with part-time fashion modeling in Toledo, while being a full-time mom. Upon moving to Houston, she began working in real estate, and later took the helm of her late husband John’s real estate development business.
Gifted with a go-getter spirit, creativity, and an eye for design, Diane also provided interior design services to her friends and business associates before retiring and relocating to the Atlanta area to be closer to her mother. She then split her time between her homes in Atlanta and Jacksonville, FL.
Diane’s happiest and most treasured moments were times spent with her family making memories at the beach, playing games together, and doting on her grandchildren during holiday breaks and summer vacations.
She was a lover of music and was a huge fan of: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennet, Michael Buble, Barbara Streisand, Adele and more… In her leisure time, Diane took pride in her “thrift-shopping finds,” and enjoyed telling the stories behind each conquest. Her quick wit and great sense of humor brought laughter and smiles to those around her. Diane was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Diane is survived by her children, Mindee (Stephen) Grady and Michael (Kim) Mainwold; grandchildren, Matthew, Hollee and Ryan Grady, and Connor and Alexandria Mainwold; her brother, Earle Sinclair Winter, Jr.; and her cousin Iris Seeberg Kimmel.
Interment will be private and will be held at a later date in Houston.
