Dennis Edward Barrington of Bishop, Georgia passed away peacefully on the evening of August 10, 2023, at the age of 75.
Born in Santa Rosa, California on February 20, 1948, to Elizabeth McCallister, Dennis spent most of his formative years in Liberty County, Georgia. Dennis served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He continued proudly serving his county for 30 years in the United States Navy, a job that would take him around the country and around the world. Eventually, he found a home working in sub-service and proudly called himself a Submariner.
After retirement, Dennis settled down in Jacksonville, Florida then Bishop, Georgia to be closer to his two sons, daughter, family, and friends. He felt motivated to continue his education and received his Bachelors degrees in Business Management and Human Resources from AIU. He loved playing golf and watching his Georgia Bulldogs. He took great joy in spoiling his grandchildren (and grand-puppies, Cheerio and Jazzy) and spending time with his friends and family which was always Dennis’ priority.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Judith Barrington, sons, Christopher Barrington (April) and Timothy Barrington (Heather), daughter, Nikki Hon (Derek), brother, Brian Barrington (Darlene), and sister, Mary Kay Ingram. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ethan Barrington, James Dennis Hon, Morgan Barrington, and Matilda Hon, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In memory of Dennis and his service to our country, contributions can be made to Operation Homefront ( https://donate.operationhomefront.org/a/gives ) which provides military families with the food assistance they need so they can have nutritious meals during their family’s time of need. In his honor, Dennis would also like you to cheer for the Bulldogs, spend time with your family, play a round of golf, and thank a veteran.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
