Denise Bero Gallagher

Denise Bero Gallagher, 70, of Syracuse, NY died on January 31, 2021, in Athens, GA. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Bero.

Denise spent 59 years in Syracuse before moving to Athens, GA in 2011.

She was also preceded in death by husband of 38 years, Joseph Gallagher who passed away in 2003 and brother, Timothy Gallagher in 2020.

Denise is survived by her son, Ian Gallagher, his wife, Khristina Gallagher and one grandson, Noah as well as brothers Kevin Bero and David Bero and sisters Melanie Trouesdale and Therese Becksted as well as many nieces and nephews.

Denise married the love of her life, Joe in 1969, and went on to foster hundreds of children in the Syracuse area. Together they enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and spending time on the St. Lawrence River. After many years of trying to conceive, they had one son, Ian, in 1983. In partnership with a few others, she built Accurate Accounting and Tax, serving people for 17 years before retiring in 2011.  Denise then moved to Athens to be closer to her brother Kevin and his family, wife Dottie, and nieces Kelly and Carrie. She spent much of her retirement playing her favorite card game, bridge, with the Tuckston United Methodist Church group. In 2015, Denise became a grandmother and was affectionately called Nana by everyone she met after that. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2017 and passed peacefully in her home this past Sunday.

Funeral/memorial services will be held at a later time due to COVID-19.
