Harry David “Double D” Dawson, 67, husband of Kaye Price Dawson, died Thursday, February 18, 2021. Born and raised in Oconee County where he deeply loved and faithfully served his community throughout his life. He was the son of the late Rayford Turner Dawson and Lois Terry Dawson and was also preceded in death by his brother James Terry Dawson. Mr. Dawson served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves from 1972-1978. He worked for the Athens Clarke County Police Department and the Oconee County Sheriff's Office as a D.A.R.E Officer where he retired in 2001. Survivors in addition to his wife include three children: Alicia Dawson (Daniel) Hooper, Sarah Denise Dawson and Jonathan David Dawson; grandchildren: Elijah Turner Butt, Levi Christopher Butt, Isaac Hunter Dawson and Halston Rayford Dawson; and six siblings: Wendell Turner (Betty) Dawson, Curtis Daniel (Lillie) Dawson, Diane Dawson (Tommy) Daniel, Margaret Dawson Hale, Phyllis Dawson (Randy) Maddox and Barbara Dawson (Eddie) Garrett, many nieces and nephews along with a large extended family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 3PM at Grace Fellowship Church where he was a member. Interment will follow at Union Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the funeral home. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic masks will be required.
