Winterville - David ìDaveî W. Smith, 53, died Sunday, March 12, 2006.
Born in Buncombe County, NC, he was the son of the late Hershel and Hattie Robinson Smith.
Dave was a graduate of West Jefferson High School in Greta, LA. He later received an Electronic Technical degree while serving in the US Air Force with the 5 MOB COMM GP and had reached the rank of SMSgt at time of discharge. He continued his career as a civilian at Robbins AFB and received a degree in business from Macon College during his tenure at Robins.
Dave met Joan, his wife, of 22 years while living in the Warner Robbins area. He was currently serving as manager of the Bio Medical Engineering Department of Athens Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Davis Smith, two children; Jeffery David Smith of Maui, HI, Matthew David Smith of Gloucester, WV along with three grandchildren.
The family will accept flowers; however, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Breast Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from 5:00 thru 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home EAST is in charge of arrangements.
