David Keith Shields

David Keith Shields, 60, of Athens, passed away on January 7, 2025. Born on September 23, 1964, he was the son of Gussie Mae Fitzpatrick and the late John William Shields.

David was a kind, caring individual who loved his daughter and family. His loving nature made him a magnet for children. He loved classic cars, fishing, and was a gun enthusiast. David loved life and enjoyed making others laugh. He did everything, within his control, to bring joy and laughter to others. His contagious enthusiasm will always be treasured.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Fitzpatrick; brothers, Jeffrey Fitzpatrick and Timothy Shields.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pam Griffin Shields; daughter, Lyrin Danica Shields; mother of his daughter, Pam Smith Shields; stepson, Broc Bridges (Shelby); siblings, Shelby Moseley (Peter), Jenny Fitzpatrick (Ross), Jamie Combs (Alan), Susan Shields (Chuck), Ray Shields (Kathy), Michael “Bo” Shields (Angie); step grandchildren, Fiona Rose, Sawyer, Riley; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Lord & Stephens, EAST, Athens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A private interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
