David H. Prince, Sr., 72, husband of Woodie Chandler Prince, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
He was born in Birmingham, AL, and the family moved to Athens, GA when he was a few months old. He was the youngest son of the late LTC Robert C. Prince, Jr. and Dorothy Humber Prince.
David graduated from Athens High School in 1967 and attended UGA. He was a businessman and entertainer and could build and repair almost anything. As an entertainer, he was a dynamic singer and bass player. Over his lifetime he personally entertained hundreds of thousands of people while being a part of many landmark events in their lives, including birthdays, religious events, weddings, graduations, anniversaries and funerals. He started singing before he was two years old and kept singing his whole life. He was the booker, leader, Master of Ceremonies, lead singer and bass player for several of his own bands and performed with many of the wonderful musicians and bands Athens has produced during his lifetime.
Survivors in addition to his wife include five children: Lori Prince, Molly (John) Seawright, David (Elizabeth) Prince, II, Tiffany Thomas, Gabriel Prince; siblings: Patty (Bob Clark) Moore and Bobby (Connie) Prince; seven grandchildren: Trent Epps, Kaylin Prince, Caroline Prince, Davis Prince, Jackson Prince, Nicholas Evans, Alex Evans; three great grandchildren: Knox and Keaton Prince and Kade Ivy and several nieces and nephews he adored.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, July 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Thompson House, 1431 Atlanta Highway, Bogart, Georgia. A memorial service celebrating David’s life will follow at 4 p.m. at the same location.
